What makes a Strap Onz strap retractable?
On the Retractable 3m the webbing is wound inside a housing on the ratchet. Pull out the length you need, hook up and ratchet tight. When you release, the webbing winds back into the housing instead of ending up in a knotted pile in the tray. No loose tail, no re-rolling by hand.
What's the difference between the Retractable 3m and the Originals 3.5m?
Both are 25mm ratchet straps. The Retractable 3m adds the retracting housing, so the strap packs itself away. The Originals 3.5m is a standard ratchet strap with no housing, an extra half metre of length and the lowest price per strap.
What sizes do they come in?
Retractable: 25mm wide, 3m long, sold as a 2-pack. Originals: 25mm wide, 3.5m long, sold in 2, 4 and 6-packs.
What load are they rated for?
Use at least two straps on any load, keep within the load limit for your strap, and re-check tension after the first few kilometres. A strap is only as strong as the anchor point it's hooked to.
If you need the rated load for a specific job, contact us before you buy and we'll confirm the figure for that strap.
Are they waterproof?
The Retractable's housing is built to keep water out, so rain, mud and salt spray don't seize the mechanism. After a saltwater trip, rinse with fresh water and let it dry before you wind it away.
What webbing designs are available?
The Retractable 3m comes in printed webbing designs: Flames, Green Camo, Cash Money, Beer, Skulls and USA Flag. Not every design is in stock all the time; the product page shows what's available right now.
Using them
How do I use a retractable ratchet strap?
- Hook one end to a solid anchor point.
- Pull the webbing out of the housing to your second anchor and hook on.
- Work the ratchet handle until the load is firm, then close the handle.
Check the load can't shift, then re-tension after the first few kilometres.
How do I release and pack it away?
Open the ratchet handle all the way to release the tension, unhook both ends and let the webbing wind back into the housing. Keep a hand on the hook as it retracts so it doesn't whip.
What can I use them for?
Dirt bikes, ute trays, trailers, camping gear, tools and toys. Anything that needs to stay put on the road. Rate your anchor points too: hook to a proper tie-down point, not trim or plastic.

Orders & business
What pack sizes can I buy?

Can I change or cancel an order?
Get in touch as soon as you can with your order number. If it hasn't shipped yet we'll do what we can to change or cancel it.
How do I pay, and is it secure?
Checkout is handled by Shopify, so your card details never touch our servers. The payment methods available to you are shown at checkout.
